Watch this space for an exciting new feature here on wCF.

Kaka has graciously agreed to send me rare/special articles/features on WI cricket.

We have decided to create the John J. Kakabelly special Reading Room to share these gems  with you..(all of this is Kaka's idea by the way)

Ok, Kaka.. the floor is yours. Send me those materials and I'll upload here.

Good move Stevie.

Can Plato now have "a spot" for his Philosophical musings?;)

It is getting lonely up here on Jupiter!

I should have stay on Mt Everest as there were still a few sages around:D:D

It would be great if we could read cricket articles or excerpts from cricket books. (without infringing copyright laws).  I loved to read old west indies cricket annuals. Alas all has been lost (borrowed by friends who lent to friends)

Mind you, my takes/musings will be PRN (as time permits) and some schools of philosophy are NOT with controversy/debates

Not at all.

That is the beauty of it - but we have to keep the debates "healthy"

even when  it is about topics like ethnicity, god and those controversial subjects;)

Hey stevie. Ever read the article "Sobers:  An Appreciation by Sir Donald Bradman"

In this article (written for the 1973 brochure Austraila in the West Indies) Bradman talks about the 256 Sobers made for the Rest of the world after Lillee was running rampant. He states that some of the shots Sobers played had no margin for error. It  was a great article and showed the genius of Gary Sobers..the batsman.

That is a well publicized article. Recently during the world series, the article was featured on cricinfo.

A good one will be Blasting for Runs, a very very rare book.

I have a copy of Farewell to Cricket by DGBradman.
I also have a copy of Dravid's book and many mags.

Alas, when I migrated, I left all my cricket books behind. I have read Blasting For Runs. I would have loved to see Sobers and Kanhai in their prime. (Live at Bourda) South stand A or B

I grew up around there and the cane fields east of the disco were regular places to go fishing, swimming and loads of sugar cane. It is no wonder the sugar estates all operated at a loss. :D:D

Naaaah..........actually the sugar estates operated at a profit, Nandy.

Sugar was king !

The problem was that most of the foreign exchange produced by the sugar industry was sunk into the loss making bauxite industry.

That is where the problem was.
